The Dignity and Importance of Work

I know that this is a day late, but it's never to late to reflect on the dignity of work, exemplified by St. Joseph, whose feast under the title of The Worker we celebrated yesterday. St. Joseph has a special place in the Salesian family because he is the patron of our Brothers. While the work of the Salesian Brother today is varied, St. Joseph's patronage goes back to the days when most of our Brothers worked in shops training carpenters, electricians and other skilled trades. But whether we are brothers, priests or lay people, and no matter if our work is blue collar or white collar, the example of dedication and hard work of St. Joseph is pertinent for everyone.
